Today’s speakers where brought a wealth of knowledge to the table and even helped us delve into issues that aren’t so comfortable.
Our first speaker was Bill Weinberg our attorney at law. Bill has extensive experience with things like narcotics, felonies, sex offenses, mortgage fraud, and several other types of crimes that many people find unnerving to discuss. Bill urged us to contact and utilize our lawyers immediately should we ever find ourselves an unfortunate victim or perpetrator of one or more of these appalling crimes.
Bill then gave advice on what a lawyer with your best interest in mind will do. The first thing a good lawyer will do in any scenario involving malicious crimes is remind you that you have the right to remain silent and that it isn’t always wise to speak out, at least not right away as you may say to much. He went on to explain that in these circumstances, your lawyer should contact the District Attorney for you. This can help protect you further and will allow your lawyer to communicate your needs and desires through the proper channels.
The next topic Bill spoke about was your rights and what may happen if and when they are not read to you. Surprising all of us he revealed that the only time the law requires your rights be read to you are during either a custodial interrogation, or when you find yourself under arrest and even then there are situations where an officer is not required to read you your Miranda rights. Bill also reminded us that regardless of the situation you have the right to an attorney even if you don’t have one during the time of your arrest.
Next up, Bill talked a bit about the most common reasons he gets a phone call requesting his services. Believe it or not Bill receives calls from individuals who have received a DUI. He went on to explain some of the consequences of receiving a DUI. Those included $1500.00 dollars in fines, and how the second and especially the third offense is much worse and can cost you more than money.
Bill Weinberg is an expert and has been through over 100 trials! Should you ever need a lawyer contact Bill!
Our second speaker was Dave Widerman, our Orange County tax expert. Dave is an expert in assisting his clients with IRS audits and reminded everyone in attendance that keeping your sales records is vital and can help you greatly during an audit as the IRS can look back at 10 years of your financial activity. Dave also emphasized just how important it is to file for an extension should you need one. The IRS charges late fees of 85 dollars a month, per partner if you file late. These fees add up quickly but can easily be avoided by filing for an extension. Contact Dave Widerman today!
Our final speaker was Lisa Shaffer, who's an expert in massage therapy. Lisa spoke of how a massage can help relieve stress and urged all of us to utilize her services from time to time. Lisa specializes in the abhyanga massage which is a massage performed by two masseuses at once! Lisa is also an expert in Swedish, deep tissue massages, and corporate chair massages. Lisa then spoke of the reflexology and cupping massage she often does for her clients. She did warn however that though it feels miraculous and is extremely relaxing the massage often leaves marks! When you find yourself overworked and overstressed contact Lisa Shaffer for a free gift certificate or visit her office in Lake Forrest today for a massage!
